Membership of the Historical Metallurgy Society is open to all. Members receive the journal Historical Metallurgy (2 issues a year), and the Newsletter (3 issues a year). Members are entitled to stand for election to Council or as an Officer of the Society.

As the Society is a Company limited by guarantee (No 1442508), every member has a liability, in the event of the Society having to be wound up, of £1 (one pound sterling). The Society's registered address is 1 Carlton House Gardens, London, SW1 5DB.
