The HMS Anniversary Appeal was launched to mark our 50th Anniversary Year.

The appeal will generate an Anniversary Fund to allow us to make grants for any purpose which will further the understanding and enjoyment of Historical Metallurgy. This will normally be done by making grants from the Fund investment income, but should some special opportunity arise, there would be no restriction on Council spending part of the capital.

Our current grant generating funds are intended for the support of research, and this would also be within the scope of the Anniversary Fund. There are however many worthwhile projects for which our current funds do not provide grants, but that the Anniversary Fund will be able to support. As examples, these might include:

A historical information board at a site of metallurgical interest.
Digitising and making available out of print (and copyright) books.
Purchase of archive quality stationery to help preserve important photographs.

This appeal has the full backing of Council who voted a £5000 contribution to start the Anniversary Fund, and have promised to match contributions from members up to a further £5000.

If you would like to contribute to the Fund, please see HERE for further details.

We would like to acknowledge with gratitude donations from the following benefactors:

Keith Blackney
Marjorie Hutchinson
Alastair Lings

We would also like to acknowledge other anonymous benefactors.
